It is with deep sadness that the Greenbank Masjid Management announces that Shaykh Hamzah will be leaving his role as Imam of our masjid. Shaykh Hamzah will be moving closer to home for personal reasons, and while we fully support his decision, his departure will be deeply felt by all of us.
Over the past five years, we have been truly blessed to have Shaykh Hamzah as part of our community. During this time, he has shown unwavering dedication, humility, and leadership — guiding us through prayers, heartfelt reminders and numerous community initiatives. His sincerity and character have left a lasting impact on our masjid and on the lives of so many within our congregation.
From engaging with the youth — whether through friendly football matches or his inspiring daily reminders during Ramadhan — to hosting school visits and acting as an ambassador for the masjid during various community and interfaith visits, Shaykh Hamzah has consistently represented Greenbank Masjid with warmth, compassion and wisdom.
He has been a true role model for young and old alike, working tirelessly to strengthen faith, unity, and understanding within and beyond our community. His presence has been a source of strength and guidance for us all, and his absence will undoubtedly leave a void in our hearts and our masjid.
On behalf of the entire management and congregation, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and prayers to Shaykh Hamzah. We wish him every success and happiness in his future endeavours. Please know, Shaykh, that you will always have a place here — in our masjid, our institution and our hearts.
We warmly invite everyone to attend a Farewell Programme for Shaykh Hamzah on Saturday, 25th October (after Maghrib, 6:00 PM) to show our gratitude and appreciation for his years of service. Further details about the event will be shared soon, in shā’ Allāh.
May Allah bless Shaykh Hamzah abundantly, reward his tireless efforts and grant him continued success and barakah in all that he does.
