Protecting Children from Reception to Year 11: Flu and MMR Vaccinations
Saturday 14 October 2023 from 10am to 2pm
Nobody likes the discomfort of the flu—fever, stuffy nose, dry cough, sore throat, and more. But for children from Reception to Year 11, it’s more than just discomfort; it can disrupt their education and even lead to complications requiring hospitalisation. That’s why we’re offering flu vaccinations to shield our children, minimise virus circulation this winter, and support both their education and the NHS.
At the Greenbank Masjid session, we’ll provide the injectable (gelatine-free) flu vaccines.
Protecting Against MMR Diseases
On the same day, we’re also checking children’s MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccination history. While most have had 2 doses before school, we offer the gelatine-free MMR vaccine for those who missed it. These diseases can spread easily among unvaccinated individuals, leading to severe problems, including meningitis, hearing loss, and pregnancy complications. For the best protection, two doses of the MMR vaccine are essential against measles, mumps, and rubella.
